Thistle Longhorn Beetle (Agapanthia villosoviridescens) Adults are often found on flowers, particularly umbellifers like hogweed and cow parsley, and, of course, on thistles.

Imagine a small, slender beetle resting on a green leaf. It's a light brown color with a subtle, speckled pattern, but the most striking feature is its incredibly long, curved antennae. These antennae are thin and dramatically striped with alternating black and white segments, like a tiny barber's pole. This is the Thistle Longhorn Beetle, named for its preference for thistles and other similar plants. It spends its life in meadows and hedgerows, where its larvae develop inside the stems of these plants, and the adults can be seen on flowers, their long antennae waving gently.
