The Tired Horizon

types of the Fediverse...
...where can I upload custom IRs of guitar cabs and reverb effects to?

Do I need to pay to join Patreon or somewhere to host them?

@tiredhorizon

You could put them on Google Drive for free.

@pete @tiredhorizon bad idea. Google has been known to shut down entire accounts over alleged copyright violations (even when files weren't publicly shared); idk how cool they'd be with what amounts to emulating trademarked hardware 🙄 content mafia strikes again

@pete @amberage yeah cheers for the idea, anyway. I find GD a janky pain as it is, LOL!

I might look at Archive - one guy uploaded about 5 there already.

@mukayu Not sure it would come under creative commons when I take it from tech like that. Its a bit like putting up raw samples from a rompler back in the day.

Hmm had another look at you cant do bulkdownloads.

@tiredhorizon Patreon is free to join, iirc, they just take a cut off the top of your earnings.

@tiredhorizon Just a simple website with a folder people can access and download the files? I don't know exactly how to make a folder accessible, but it's possible.

@dereisenhofer @tiredhorizon We all need to start making our own websites again. Relying on a commercial service is folly.

@dereisenhofer @shanesemler frames and html in the text editor were not my tihng 😅

@tiredhorizon Once upon a time, we had personal websites to make these things available. Now? Who the fuck knows.

@shanesemler yeah we're all in transition to somewhere new it seems

@tiredhorizon anyplace that will host files will do, me thinks. Stack from transip for one. Maybe wetransfer? Those are paid options though.
Not sure if @Mirlo might be of help here? If not now, maybe in the future? IRs are basically really small .wav files...

@Loki_Laufeyiarson @Mirlo these are wave files yeah. Less than 3mb for the whole lot I think.
