Anticipating a terrible night of fireworks cringing over New Year's?

I'm hosting a workshop next Saturday to use EFT tapping to regulate the nervous system to deal better with the noises and lights and all that comes with it.

By and for Autistic and AuDHD humans. Interested in joining us? Only $25, including recording.

@hmm_cook The couples therapist that my wife and I saw liked using tapping. My wife liked it and saw good effects from it. For me it created anxiety and made me tense. I figured it was because I was autistic. Have you found tapping to work with autistic folks? Maybe it was just my form of weird it doesn't work with.

@RegGuy It's individual. I've found it works well with many Autistics, but not everyone. And one misconception with tapping is that it's supposed to reduce how much you feel, and sometimes that happens, but it's really supposed to help you feel whatever feelings you're having rather than repressing them, while tapping on points that regulate the nervous system, so it doesn't engage the fight/flight response as much. For some people, feeling anything may be associated with anxiety, so that might be why you experienced what you did.

@hmm_cook All I wanted to do was run out of the room. I even still have a strong visceral response to the term. One of the worst experiences in my life. I'm glad it works for people. As I said, my wife loved it.

@RegGuy So sorry it was such a bad experience for you.

@hmm_cook Repeated for weekly sessions seemingly forever.

@RegGuy Ugh. I was imagining a one time event. Sooo sorry.

@hmm_cook Yeah, it was a real treat. I was considered resistant to this therapeutic process.
