Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs have been a hot button political issue for years, but why? In a piece for The Big Picture, Amelia Mavis Christnot used the lens of her own Ivy League education to dig into why DEI matters and why the right is so afraid of it. thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p

The Big Picture · Why The Right Fears Diversity, Equity And InclusionBy The Big Picture

@georgetakei
DEI is cold-blooded financial sense. If you open a company's website, & the photos of the board of directors don't mirror US demographics, you know they're not using multiple backgrounds to reach multiple markets.

@georgetakei

it's so ingrained that they can't even understand that all of nature shows them diversity every moment.
a spruce tree, a cedar tree, a birch tree, then there's a white birch, a silver birch, a swamp birch etc

they can't see the tree for the forest and they can't answer the simple question why aren't they all just tree if God doesn't want diversity?

@georgetakei in their view it requires hiring candidates who are the wrong gender or colour, and the “right” candidate white, male, straight who had the right old school tie may get rejected. It promotes hiring the best candidate, not the one whose father went to college with the CEO. Why should someone get the elevator to power just because they went to the right school and have the right connections regardless of actual ability?

@georgetakei it will interfere with affirmative action for trust fund babies

@georgetakei "conspiracy theorist Robby Starbuck whose social media account is a repository of racist conspiracy theories, anti-LGBTQ+ bigotry, and other fringe views."

Can we please admit that these are not "fringe views". This is the mainstream conservative movement

@georgetakei
Look, it's just a new way to wrap racism and call it something else... It's anti DEI...

No, it's still just plain old racism...
