George Takei :verified: 🏳️‍🌈🖖🏽

It’s about time that Tommy Tuberville faced criticism from his OWN party for holding up military promotions. He’s hoping that voters blame the Democrats for not being able to get around his holds, but the fact is, nine Republicans would need to vote with all the Democrats and the Independents to get a waiver to the Senate rules in this case. But the GOP doesn’t want to go along with it because they actually like having the power to sabotage the government, whether it’s the military by Tuberville or the State Department by Rand Paul. For them, the single vote holds are a feature, not a bug.

@georgetakei "greatest democracy in the world"

@georgetakei@universeodon.com Those who can and want to help, do.

Those who don't actually have anything productive to contribute, or who don't
want to see anything made better — like Tuberville — simply break whatever they can, then point around them and shout, "SEE, THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT."

Tuberville should be removed for refusal to execute the duties and responsibilities of his office.

@georgetakei It's like I said yesterday; The GOP are the bulls in the china shop, complaining about the china breaking...and blaming everyone else.

@georgetakei I wonder what would it take to remove Tuberville from that committee? Who's in charge of that?

@georgetakei If situation were reversed, minority democrat blocking several hundred nominees, majority leader republican McConnell would say fuck the rules and fuck democrats, and confirm all of them. Violating senate rules doesn't invalidate conformation. They're parliamentary rules, not laws. But then when has democrats pulled stunt Tuberville and Paul are doing? I'll wait.

@georgetakei our gov't is broken af and we are so f#cked in more ways than just this one issue....
