A "2nd civil war" wouldn't be Meal Team Six lining up against the army.
It would be JimBob taking out that immigrant couple on their street or family with the trans kid, that they've been pissed at for years. All it takes is some sign or assurance that they might get away with it.
The "South rising again" will never happen.
Rwanda: American Edition absolutely can.
@SrRochardBunson Exactly this. It's how it would go down. A lot of right-leaning moderates would be surprised to find out that they are not as safe as they think from that side
@paulkruczynski @SrRochardBunson
Face-Eating Leopards get hangry.
@SrRochardBunson Exactly. Mass shootings in stores etc. These people are terrorists just like Hamas or ISIS. This is why I shun even family who are magats. When they talk of civil war they mean killing me or you.
@MichaelPholz @SrRochardBunson why, it's already happening now.
@SrRochardBunson People tend to underestimate just how much violence in a civil war is people settling scores and getting even (as they see it).
@Zeb_Larson @SrRochardBunson there is a reason civil wars are brother vs brother and neighbour vs neighbour.
@SrRochardBunson I have spoken to refugees from civil wars in Asia and the near east. This is exactly what happens.
@SrRochardBunson Or Jim Bob with his pistol taking on the Bloods and Crips who have AR-15 guns.
@IveyJanette @SrRochardBunson Jim Bob won’t get two blocks in the city.
@SrRochardBunson it's already started
@SrRochardBunson The more cunning JimBobs become legislators who deny healthcare to those they deem unworthy so that the problem “solves itself”, and it’s all legal.
Why risk getting 20 to life when you could get paid to be far more efficient an eradicator?
@SrRochardBunson So, it's important to mke sure that nobody can get away with it.
Trump will be quick to give that, that's for sure.
He wants a civil war, because that's what Putin wants.
@SrRochardBunson One slight change: We (finally) got a sponsor for the Marines so it’s now Happy Meal Team Six. It’s headed by the Hamburgler, who’s just trying to clear his name.
But jokes aside, the comparison I use is Croatia during the 90s because they had Christian Militias.
@SrRochardBunson IMHO we need more than just cameras at power substations. Maybe guards at reservoirs & water plants, too.
@SrRochardBunson Think of the decades of lynching in this country. Not an open clash of arms per se, but violence against minorities that was encouraged, or at least condoned, by local government, with no effective response by the national government.
@SrRochardBunson this is frightening
@SrRochardBunson It would be the cops.
Speaking of "getting away with it"... This reminds me of the local history book I read recently. Nazi mayor was responsible for a murder only weeks before allied troops arrived, in spring 1945. He probably thought he would get away with it.
And then he did, in fact, get away with it.
@SrRochardBunson They itchin to kill everyone that aint the same color as them immigrant or not. I legit never stop anywhere rural when im travelling and try to avoid if I can. 100% more dangerous for a black woman than any city hood fr
@SrRochardBunson I'm thinking it would look a lot less like the American Civil War and a LOT more like the Meiji Restoration. Which, uh, was followed by the Showa party taking control. So...
Tutsis & Hutus
@SrRochardBunson
The MAGAts that are so proud of their AR-15’s & think the second amendment right has enabled them to withstand perceived Federal overreach remind me of the Southerners in the beginning of Gone With The Wind, which is a great film for understanding hubris and the belief these folks have of their superiority and lack of humanity.
They think guns will protect them against the Army, but I think that they will more likely be reminded of out how Waco turned out, though not until tens of thousand die in the streets. The only hope I hold is if this next election is decided by an overwhelmingly Democratic majority. Which is why third party candidates are so dangerous
Well-said the comparision to Waco. "Whacko, Texas" #davidkoresh
Questions:
Does Biden have the courage to nationalize the Texas National Guard before the election?
Will holdouts face military courts-martial?
If you cannot answer with an unequivocal "yes", there's every likelihood that GOP machinations will continue unabated.
@SrRochardBunson
@JoeChip @SrRochardBunson I wouldn’t characterize nationalizing the Texas guard as courage, I think it might cause more polarization. I trust he will defuse the situation and make Abbott look foolish.
Abbot may say don’t mess with Texas, but Biden is an extraordinary politician and has the means to make his opponents sorry they ever messed with him
Making people look foolish seems somehow inadequate to a deliberate challenge to the US' existence as a sovereign nation.
@JoeChip @SrRochardBunson
My expectation is that Biden will meet the challenge in a way neither you or I can foresee at this juncture, and it will resolve the issue. That Abbott will appear to be impotent and foolish will be part and parcel of how he does it & its natural result
