Another great tool with #OsmAnd is the #travel guides which is still in beta but is handy to learn a bit about where you are without #wifi or a #data connection. The one downside with osmand would be the address search, that seems to be a mess and not the easiest to use. But, as a contributor to #OSM I could do more by adding addresses.

If you don't mind going online a bit, for getting better results, try Acastus-Photon app on Android: f-droid.org/packages/name.gdr.

Think of it as a "search companion" that leverages Komoot's search.

It will also play well with , and even -- basically, any apps that support geointents.

I agree that the #osmand search sucks, below organic maps and others....
How do you use the acastus-photon app? Do you search it there first and then copy&paste it into osmand?
Btw the built-in search in #magicearth is pretty good!

It will display matching results, and tapping on any matches will let you open the location on supported apps already installed in your phone.

Here's how it looks in my device.

I've often found their results better than Osmand's own.
