In Leam Valley there are several specimens of a tree taxon that I have been calling Sorbus intermedia.

In my tree books (Tree Guide by Johnson and More, Trees of Britain & Northern Europe by More & White), the leaf shape of the taxon in your post more closely matches that of Sorbus thuringiaca or S. hybrida.

Perhaps name tags have been mixed up on the trip across the Channel.
