@Bman DOTs need to just stop doing old fashioned traffic studies. They’re not accurate. The spillover traffic they predict almost never materializes and if it does it’s short lived because people learn and adapt. Travel demand modeling is a bullshit pseudoscience invented to promote subsidized car and truck travel. It can’t be redeemed, modified or greenwashed. Stop planning for flimsily projected traffic jams and start planning for the livable city reasonable people want!
Agree! I'll just add that the people at the Dot are great and understand induced demand. It's really a political battle rather than a knowledge deficit.
