Much of what I would say in a conventional introduction is already on my profile, but here is some background on me.
I was part of the November 2022 transition from Twitter. I had joined in 2009 and was also using it via a different account to promote my podcast.
Then Twitter started getting weird. Plus, algorithm-driven feeds are less valuable to me because they are so jammed with memes and ads.
I joined my first online message group in 1989 via the FidoNet home dial-up BBS network. I met my wife online (in FidoNet) way before it was common.
In the course of teaching media and communication, I focused my research on instructing and learning via distance technology, including social media. I focused on students in Taiwan and China learning English as a Foreign Language using technology.
I changed servers in August 2023 to allow a longer post word count.
I enjoy interacting with real people algorithm-free and sharing thoughts as an observer of media and politics.
