@georgetakei Microwaves target the water molecules in the food specifically, so it doesn't need to heat up the entire space and work from the outside in. It just heats up the water within the food reasonably evenly and fast.
In case anyone did want to know.
@ariaflame The more you know!
Plus 2 minutes in the microwave is going to take 5% of the electric consumption of an oven. Saving time, money and co2 emmissions.
That might make it give you a nicer feeling.
@ariaflame @georgetakei also: the reduced time used for heating means less exposure to heat for the food.. Which is why veggies cooked in the microwave retain more nutrients than those steamed and even more than cooked.
@georgetakei But of course that 40 minutes in the oven makes a much more palatable result.
@georgetakei Microwaves are Food Quickies.
@georgetakei
It’s a TARDIS, it warps time and space inside!
The microwave oven is the most startrekkian appliance in the kitchen. In fact the first residential one started selling about the time #Startrek was first aired.
It lets you play "Enterprise" at home --
Tea! Earl grey! Hot! <bing!>

@georgetakei I have never been able to think about microwave ovens the same since Jennifer Lawrence in American Hustle… Science ovens!
