Tim Walz doesn’t exactly lend himself to comedic material. He doesn’t have obvious character flaws at all and he’s certainly not a bumbling buffoon, like Trump and Vance. Plus Steve Martin has better things to do with his time than a thankless SNL role that’s far beneath his comedic talents.

Never saw it. The fact that Tim Walz himself is funny does not mean that lends itself to parody.
@RodneyPetersonTalent @georgetakei I could imagine they could get a lot of comedy out of him brushing off stupid attacks. Or a bunch of jokes where the punchline is, "Dude, that's fucking weird!"
Imagine something like the scene from Roxanne where he bets them he can make better jokes about his nose than anyone in the bar...and does he!
Martin would have been pretty great I think. He's played plenty of similar characters. I think he doesn't want to be in a position to make a joke of the guy
That’s interesting. Some of that stuff is valid from an entertainment standpoint. And not all that obvious.
I think also that at 78 Steve Martin is thinking do I really need this? He certainly doesn’t from any practical point of view.
It’s roughly the same age Larry David decided to wrap it up. I think Larry David just thought it’s been great but this is a hell of a lot of work at my age.

Eye still think that comedian Jim Gaffigan would be a better pick than Mr Martin to impersonate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Gaffigan has the Midwest decency vibes.
