What’s your favorite thing about the U.K.? One of mine is how incredibly polite people here are, even to perfect strangers.
@georgetakei as an Australian philosopher once said: "Show me a better use of architecture than the British pub."
@georgetakei The fact I can go into certain very old buildings and have vivid #flashbacks to previous lives it appears I lived in that area of the world. #WestminsterAbbey is a shocking experience for me to walk into. Society has yet to grasp how the realities of #reincarnation could help many if it was more clearly within the narrative of #discourse of society. Instead we have a controlled narrative forced at us from those who know no better.
@georgetakei The beautiful scenery in Scotland. It's easy to get caught up in moaning about the wind and rain, but the landscape always emerges once again when the fog lifts.
@georgetakei The UK has a certain spirit about it in the face of adversity. I recall the Borough market attack reminding so many people how awesome Borough market was. And yet a light dusting of snow will bring the country to a standstill! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WfRsFZjOpA&t=6s
@georgetakei the queuing. Not just the way the people politely line up and wait their turn, but also the way queues are set up in a thoughtful and efficient manner.
@georgetakei While in London, I was in line at a small grocery store and marveling over this, when a woman jumped in front of me and said "oh, it's my turn now!" It took my brain a second to process, but when I realized she had an American accent, I started laughing uncontrollably. Her embarrassed teenage daughter said, "mom, staaaahhp..." and I'm guessing a few of the Londoners in line behind me were wondering why their government let these American barbarians in to roam around.
@georgetakei My favorite thing is the lack of TERFs and the complete acceptance of trans people. Oh wait...
@georgetakei the accents. Haha! I love hearing all the different accents and the use of actual English.
@georgetakei never visited but amazing contributions to music, present and past.... And comedy
@georgetakei Its been awhile, but a pint (or four) over a game of darts, and so many signs and objects that are painted bright red!
@georgetakei New Forrest was absolutely lovely, as is Hayling Island and Portsmouth. You should definitely hit up the Tate, and a good chip shop and try some mushy peas … avoid using the word quaint, I found that no one likes hearing their home described as quaint.
@georgetakei Canadians are largely the same way - just because I recognize your face it doesn't mean I *know* you in any way beyond that. The idea of accosting anyone in publlic just because I recognize their face is alien to me.
