One of many notable takeaways from 'Careless People':

The creators and top execs of Meta do not allow their own children on it.

Think about that.

@eosfpodcast
I detest anything Zuck. Never used Facebook. But that looks like an interesting book. I'll check it out. Thanks.

@eosfpodcast "The creators and top execs of Meta" clearly have such hatred for their children that they forced existence upon them without their consent.

Brutal.

@eosfpodcast I don't let my kids use Mastodon, either.

@eosfpodcast the execs at IG Farben probably didn't give their kids any of the stuff they made, either

@eosfpodcast i have heard this a lot, but i think that's not a great approach. When they get free, what are they going to know?

i worked closely with my kid (and her friends) to understand how cookies and recommendation engines worked, talked about how they could drive their own experiences, and cut out the toxic stuff.

@eosfpodcast

Great read!
I am appalled while laughing hilariously!

@charlesmagne1

It just proves billionaires shouldn't exist, most are truly horrible and have far too much sway over the world.

Also, the author tolerated far too much, too long in her former FB role. I was shaking my head as I was reading.

@eosfpodcast

Agreed. We are all conditioned to be good girls and good boys and many times the results are not good for ourselves and our families and our societies. There is no rational reason why people with those amounts of money and power should not be taxed at least 75%. We all know that more equal societies are happier and less lethal than those who suffer steep economic disparities. She exposed them as cruel sad bags of sorrows. Good future readings!!!
