Swede’s Photographs

Good morning. 📷🧵🐦

19 March 2025

Tomorrow is the first day of spring. Spring will be here when tomorrow is today—hurray.

Lately, I’ve been daydreaming about a new camera—a Canon R5 mirrorless model paired with a Canon 200-800 mm lens. Truth be told, it’s really just the lens I want, but it’s not compatible with my existing cameras, and there are no adapters to make it work. It’s funny how hobbies create the perfect excuse to buy new things. I already own four cameras—not counting my phone or the little Sony camera gathering dust in the upper cabinet of my desk. Let’s be honest, a new camera is far from a necessity.

For my wife, it’s all about sewing and quilting machines. It’s as if certain businesses saw hobbies as untapped gold mines and thought, “I can make money from that.”

@Swede1952 It's the same with cooking. Bought another pan today (I do own 6 already). But this one is special, it can go into my oven and that means I can cook Tarte Tatin without lending a pan! I'm really delighted about my purchase, still ... well it's yet another item in my cupboards 😬, though I've been trying to reduce. And to be honest, I did own seven. Forgot one . ....

Yea, we have that same problem, but it's propagated by my wife - mostly. Our cabinets are full, but we get more stuff anyway.

@Swede1952 I'm really trying to stop but there's always the one item which is absolutely needful. Or seems to be...
When clearing my mom's home after she died, I made a mental note NOT to confront my kids with the same load. And I was quite successful. But I should have stopped buying new ones. ..
