Pimento Mori<p>An example of "extravagant" spending of federally funded scientists: The work I do relies on equipment made by a private company that has a monopoly on the science market. To use their hardware, we also had to purchase a windows PC through their company. </p><p>This past week the equipment started having issues. Basically the PC is no longer recognizing the hardware. The solution should be pretty straightforward. Just wipe the computer and reinstall everything. </p><p>However, the PC we had to purchase circa 2017, does not connect to the internet and relies on windows 7. Because we always avoid any unnecessary spending, such as updating to the newest versions this monopoly had to offer, I now must hunt down a fucking windows 7 CD just so I can keep doing my job that DOGE wants to eliminate allegedly due to the frivolous spending of tax dollars that nobody making these decisions actually pays 🙃</p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/glamour" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>glamour</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/NIH" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>NIH</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Science" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Science</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/TaxTheRich" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TaxTheRich</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/scientists" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>scientists</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/politics" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>politics</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/elitistsciencemyass" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>elitistsciencemyass</span></a></p>
