The socialism we propose is radically different from the models that dominated the last century or from any statist or dictatorial regime: it is a revolutionary project, radically democratic, to which feminist, ecological, anti-racist, anti-colonialist, antimilitarist and LGBTQI+ struggles contribute.
Everyone could have a good life on Earth, but capitalism is an exploitative, macho, racist, warlike, authoritarian and deadly mode of predation. In two centuries, it has led humanity into a deep ecosocial impasse. Productivism is destructivism. The overexploitation of natural resources, rampant extractivism, the pursuit of maximum short-term yields, deforestation and land-use change are leading to a collapse of biodiversity, that is, of life itself.

Fourth InternationalManifesto for an ecosocialist revolution – Break with capitalist growthIntroductionThis Manifesto is a document of the Fourth International, founded in 1938 by Leon Trotsky and his comrades to save the legacy of the October Revolution from Stalinist disaster. Rejecting sterile dogmatism, the Fourth International has integrated the challenges of social movements and the ecological crisis into its thinking and practice.

Today In Labor History April 9, 1918: Members of the anarchist Black Guards confiscated the car of the American ambassador to Russia in Moscow, demanding the release of prisoners in the US. The Black Guards were armed groups of workers that formed after the February Revolution. They were the main military wing of the anarchists. The first Black Guards were created in Ukraine by Maria Nikiforova (Marusia), an anarchist terrorist from the age of 16, who eventually became Deputy leader of the Oleksandrivsk Revolutionary committee. She created the Black Guards to force land reform and redistribution. Similar cells were later created by Nestor Makhno, and she later participated in the anarchist free state of Makhnovia. The last Black Guards were quashed by the Cheka, under orders from Trotsky, on April 11-12, 1918.

#Leon_Trotsky was highly critical of the #Stalinist_USSR for suppressing #Democracy and the lack of adequate coherent #EconomicPlanning. :skp904:

In Results and Prospects, written in 1906, #Trotsky outlines his theory in detail, arguing: "History does not repeat itself. However much one may compare the #RussianRevolution with the Great French Revolution, the former can never be transformed into a repetition of the latter."
In the #FrenchRevolution of 1789, France experienced what Marxists called a "bourgeois-democratic revolution"—a regime was established wherein the bourgeoisie overthrew the existing French feudalistic system. The bourgeoisie then moved towards establishing a regime of #DemocraticParliamentaryInstitutions.

However, while democratic rights were extended to the bourgeoisie, they were not generally extended to a universal franchise. The freedom for workers to organize unions or to strike was not achieved without considerable struggle.

Trotsky argues that because a majority of the branches of industry in Russia originated under the direct influence of government measures—sometimes with the help of government subsidies—the capitalist class was again tied to the ruling elite. The capitalist class was subservient to European capital.

*** 21st century - What has changed is the capitalist class has divided, unequally, creating Hyper-Capitalism. Hyper-Capitalists (#Billionaires and #Trillionaires) influence elections (Mass Media and Campaign Fund Raising), so that the political class become subservient to them. In time, they become directively and publically involved in government. #HyperCaptitalists #HyperCapitalism

#TROTSKY's Secret Order No.96/s

1) The first task of the 2nd Army of the Ukraine is to destroy the military organization of the #Makhnovists; this task must be effective before the 15th June.

2) For this objective, and with the help of the Revolutionary Military Soviet of the 2nd Army of the Ukraine, we will immediately launch a vast campaign of agitation against the Makhnovists with the aim of preparing the public opinion of the army and the working masses for the complete liquidation of "Makhno's army".

3) The shipment of money, military equipment and absolutely anything that is of interest to Makhno's army staff is immediately and completely prohibited on pain of severe punishment for lack of responsibility.

4) In order to eliminate the Makhnovists and consolidate the right flank of the Southern Front, the following military forces are to be sent to the front: the 12th Moscow Regiment, the cavalry regiment, the elite Luganski and Bakhmutski regiments, the kursanti [cadet] battalions, an armoured train, armoured battalions and the Moscow battalion.

5) In the region where there are Makhnovists, astute, experienced workers must immediately be sent as spies and assist the opinion of the soldiers and the masses of workers, in order to exert an influence on the Makhnovists.

6) The liquidation of the Makhnovists must be carried out with great determination and great severity, without wasting time and without hesitation.

Trotsky, Chairman of the Military Revolutionary Council of the Republic

I theanarchistlibrary.org/librar had known for some time of the presence in New York of Mme Alexandra Kolontay and Leon Trotsky. From the former I had received several letters and a copy of her book on woman’s share in the world’s work. She had asked me to meet her, but I had been unable to spare the time. Later on I had invited her to dinner, but she was prevented by illness from coming. Leon Trotsky I had also never met before, but I happened to be in the city when an announcement was made of a farewell meeting which he was to address before leaving for Russia. I attended the gathering. After several rather dull speakers Trotsky was introduced. A man of medium height, with haggard cheeks, reddish hair, and straggling red beard stepped briskly forward. His speech, first in Russian and then in German, was powerful and electrifying. I did not agree with his political attitude; he was a Menshevik (Social Democrat), and as such far removed from us. But his analysis of the causes of the war was brilliant, his denunciation of the ineffective Provisional Government in Russia scathing, and his presentation of the conditions that led up to the Revolution illuminating. He closed his two hours’ talk with an eloquent tribute to the working masses of his native land. The audience was roused to a high pitch of enthusiasm, and Sasha and I heartily joined in the ovation given the speaker. We fully shared his profound faith in the future of Russia.

I discussed with Sasha the unexpected turn of events that made us feel closer to Trotsky, the Menshevik, than to Peter Kropotkin, our comrade, teacher, and friend. The war was producing strange bedfellows, and we wondered whether we should still feel near to Trotsky when in the course of time we should reach Russia, for we had only postponed, not given up, our return there.

TIL Frida Kahlo had an affair with Trotsky while he was staying with her and Diego Rivera...

and around the same time, Andre Breton came to Mexico City, where they composed a manifesto for #art against fascism, capitalism, and Stalinism : marxists.org/subject/art/lit_c

(and neither Frida nor Trotsky signed it; it's attributed to Trotsky and Breton, but it was Rivera and Breton whose names are on it)

and it's a glorious document that Breton took back to Europe to open chapters of the International Federation of Independent Revolutionary Art <en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manifest>

but it didn't last very long.

In the spirit of continuous revolution, is it time for the Next International Federation of Independent Revolutionary Art ?

Today in Labor History January 11, 1943: American mobster, Carmine Galante, assassinated Carlo Tresca in New York City. Tresca was an Italian-American newspaper editor, socialist labor organizer with the IWW, and outspoken critic of the Mafia, Stalinism and fascism. In 1937, he participated in the Dewey Commission, which cleared Trotsky of all charges made during the Moscow Trials.

"Le 21 août 1940, après onze années d'exil, Léon Trotsky, l'un des acteurs les plus emblématiques de la révolution russe, est assassiné à Mexico par le communiste espagnol Ramon Mercader. Ce film propose une narration croisée entre la vie d'exilé de Trotsky et la préparation de son assassin, recruté en 1937 par les services secrets soviétiques pour accomplir l'un des plus spectaculaires assassinats politiques du XXème siècle."—LCP - Assemblée nationale
