In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of prof. Luo Zhong-rong
Luo Zhong-rong (12 December 1924 ~ 2 September 2021) was a Chinese composer, theorist, professor and doctoral supervisor. During his lifetime, he composed and adapted a large number of symphonies, chamber music and art songs, most of which are in a distinctive Chinese ethnic style.
Besides, in his academic field, he actively introduced western compositional techniques and music theories into China, translating numerous monographs and papers by Arnold Schönberg, Paul Hindemith, Allen Forte, etc., and authored the monograph "Basic Exercises in Composing of Music" and numerous papers.
He also combined the twelve-tone technique with the pentatonic nature of Chinese ethnic music, creating the "Pentatonic Twelve-Tone Technique", through which he composed works such as "She Jiang Cai Fu Rong (Crossing the River to Pick Lotus Flowers)" and "String Quartet No. 2", etc.

羅忠鎔（1924年12月12日～2021年9月2日），中國作曲家、理論家、教授、博士生導師。他在一生中創作和改編了大量的交響樂、室內樂、藝術歌曲等，多數具有鮮明的中國民族風格。
此外，在學術領域上，他積極地將西方的作曲技法和音樂理論引入中國，翻譯了Arnold Schönberg、Paul Hindemith、Allen Forte等人的眾多專著和論文，著有專著《作曲初步練習》和若干論文。

A Super Pac affiliated with #Robert F #Kennedy #Jr, the anti-vaccine #conspiracy #theorist running for president as a Democrat, owes half its cash to a longtime Republican #mega-#donor and Trump backer, according to campaign finance reports filed on Monday.
The group, American Values 2024, reported receiving $5m from #Timothy #Mellon, a wealthy businessman from Wyoming, according to NBC News and Politico. It registered with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) in April, days before Kennedy officially launched his campaign, according to FEC records.
Mellon, 81, is the grandson of Andrew Mellon, a former US treasury secretary who made his fortune in banking. The Texas Tribune reported that Mellon, a top donor to Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election effort, supported controversial immigration laws and was 
responsible for 98% of the contributions to the Texas governor Greg Abbott’s fund to build a border wall.
Mellon, who twice gave $10m to the Trump-aligned America First Action Super Pac in 2020, also used 
racist stereotypes to describe Black people in an autobiography he self-published in 2015.

He was 88.
Fueled by a seemingly limitless scientific imagination and a blithe indifference to conventional thinking, Professor Fredkin charged through an endlessly mutating career that could appear as mind-warping as the iconoclastic theories that made him a force in both computer science and physics.
“Ed Fredkin had more ideas per day than most people have in a month,” Gerald Sussman, a professor of electronic engineering and a longtime colleague at M.I.T., said in a phone interview. “Most of them were bad, and he would have agreed with me on that. But out of those, there were good ideas, too. So he had more good ideas in a lifetime than most people ever have.”.

Hotze is known as a supporter of a variety of right-wing political causes: #against LGBT anti-discrimination protections, #against COVID vaccine mandates, and as a #proponent of Donald Trump's false claims that he was cheated in the 2020 presidential election.
Hotze is currently under criminal indictment on two charges (unlawful restraint and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon), for his alleged involvement in a private investigation into supposed "voter fraud" that resulted in a private investigator (who was hired by Hotze) attacking and holding an air conditioning repairman at gunpoint

The conspiracy theorist has no use for simple, #logical #explanations. There must be more to it, it must be complicated. It must be so complicated and #illogical that no one can make sense of it, except the conspiracy theorist himself.
