It has my standard setup - distortion and amps on the top two rows then mods, delays, cabs and reverbs on rows 3 and 4. Row 3 after the split is meant for a power amp plus real cab, and row 4 will have cab sims/IRs on it and go straight into a desk or FRFR. Ladder Logic 🇨🇦As my Apple Silicon adventures continue, I discovered another quirk today. Apparently if your DAW isn't running using Rosetta, none of the plugins that require Rosetta will be available. However I'm not sure this really applies anymore, since all of my Plugin Alliance plugins show up & I know that none of them have been ported to Apple Silicon. Eric 🇨🇦In the basement putting down some guitar tracks on the new song. Took the plunge and replaced my old Mooer delay pedal with a tc electronics Flashback. It’s quite a mind blowing delay with great features; loads of settings, analog, tube echo etc. On my new retro 12-bar based song, the left rhythm track I’m using Keeley compressor and tc slapback delay. Center rhythm track is Timmy in low overdrive and compressor. Right rhythm track is octave up with compressor and Timmy. Nice to have a decent delay pedal now that does what I need it to do. However, bittersweet that our small local music store was recently bought out by L&M. Same awesome staff, which is cool. And lots of new gear in stock, which is also great. But doesn’t have that same funky homey vibe. Also, they don’t consign, buy or sell used gear anymore, which is a bummer. Eric 🇨🇦In the basement working on the new song. Got the rhythm guitar tracks and basic song structure roughed out; key, bpm, chords, intro and ending. Tweaking lyrics now for cadence and timing. Pretty much a 12-bar blues based tune with a punkabilly vibe. The bass line will be fun. I really dig 12-bar stuff. Also found a great free slapback delay plugin. Simple to use and effective. Eric 🇨🇦In the basement putting down some rough guitar tracks. New song is coming along. Digging deep and watching vids of Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Scotty Moore for some inspiration. Well, maybe some Cramps and Setzer too. Got the lyrics roughed out. Kind of an anti-establishment Pete Seeger vibe with a dash of psychobilly. Don’t quite know where this song is gonna go. Quite fast though, so far around 160bpm. The Gretsch is perfect for this stuff. Although the BigSky throws in too much reverb on the slapback delay. And my old Mooer is tap tempo delay and max tap setting speed won’t go fast enough. Ladder Logic 🇨🇦Been an expensive month. With the new computer I decided I should also upgrade my Reasom Studio software from version 11 to 13. Mainly to take advantage of the native Apple Silicon support. I love their rack concept plus I really like that I can use it as a plug-in inside Logic. Eric 🇨🇦In the basement tonight working on a new song. Kind of a retro rockabilly vibe thing. Had the Strymon BigSky still hooked up from the previous tune, so instead of getting out the delay pedal, I searched for a video to see if you can configure delay on the BigSky. Found some useful info. I tweaked a factory preset and saved a great slapback delay setting. Put down a test track and it sounds pretty good. S★m V★rm★Wrap up: I feel comfortable to move forward and tackle anything I need with now, but it took 15-20hrs of a learning curve. As far as I remember, no amp was involved and the MV III's output went straight into a 4-track. But something is missing. These had active EQ (plus/minus treble and bass). It came to me with no sound and a warped neck with deep dents in some frets that showed impressions of string winding in them. I forced in a slightly wider Chinese neck and a passive wiring harness from 'zon (to which I added a fader to go between the pickups).
