Why is it that aircraft tracking sites/apps list the air side gate numbers for flights when most people only know the public facing gate numbers?
Boi the ferdiverse is a wack ass place, especially when its not only cross software but cross idea (eg mastodon which is twitter-like and hubzilla which i have no idea what its simulates). Hubzilla is just a mess to use and it doesnt translate over to mastodon properly, if i follow @fox@hub.hostnetwork.xyz it automaticly follows me back and dmsare just posts with subjexts as the warnings. also did i mention that hubzilla is slow as shit. Also the way hubzilla views profiles is a problem too because if i open my mastodon on hubzilla i end up on my mastodon because hubzilla has some interlink stuff that it expects from everyone.

Tbt, yet not long ago.
I get why they're afraid of prosecuting all the felonies at once, but why not even just 5 of them?
Why is our justice system so afraid to apply the actual law?

Shitty Morning Blues
It’s 9:08am and this day is already an epic pile of suck.
I overslept a little. Just a little. It was enough to screw up my whole routine though. I managed to get all of the trash out to the street and get some semblance of my morning exercise in with enough time left over to have me outside in the car by 7:30. I would have preferred 7:15, but 7:30 usually gets the job done.
Usually.
Not today though.
I had construction traffic on my street, I had gridlock on route 213 and gridlock on route 93. Google Maps told me to exit route 93 and take route 495. There was gridlock getting on to 495. It was about 8:15 when Google Maps started telling me I wouldn’t be at my destination until after 9:20, 20 minutes late for work, when I said screw it and turned around. I got on route 495 North instead of South, which is one of two main highways that get me home, and of course there was gridlock on 495 North as well. I was home by 9:40 and immediately punched in to work.
I have to work from the office three times this week. One of them has to be Wednesday. I already worked from the office on Monday and I fully expected to do it today (Tuesday) too, which would put me at home for Thursday and Friday. Now I have to work from the office on one of those days to make up for today. It will probably be Friday.
I am so pissed off and frustrated right now, I can’t even think straight. I ate breakfast in the car and was so stressed out that it affected my stomach and now I feel all blocked up and bloated and gross (it’s a gastric bypass thing, you probably wouldn’t understand unless you’ve had the surgery too).
9:15am and it’s already a Grade A Shitty Day. Fucking traffic!
(insert the sound of a frustrated scream here)

Has everyone except Dreamwidth and the makers of TweeseCake forgotten how to make an edit page/option that is actually easy to use? It's an absolute mess on the Friendica page itself, so that it could take me up to ten minutes just to be able to edit a post, and Enafore, which is supposed to be an improvement on Semafore has an edit page that is completely inaccessible with NVDA. It just says "Dialogue". Whatever happened to choosing "edit" and having a normal page open, with edit boxes, combo boxes, and a "save" button? See Dreamwidth's page for a perfect example of this, both for creating and editing posts.
TweeseCake also works wonderfully, but it only allows you to go back so far in your own posts. There is no way to enter a link and have TweeseCake open it.
I got myself an #espresso machine and better grinder. I've discovered making espresso is hard.
I just need to keep telling myself, "patience."
When you break your #php project in such a way that there are no errors, yet nothing works.
Something that frustrates me to no end here on Mastodon is people don't get, don't use and don't leverage hashtags.
Hashtags act as a replacement for the algorithm for me. I can follow hashtags and see posts from other folks who are interested. They rock.
But apparently Wordpress and Micro.blog don't think so because I cannot seem to get either of those sites to include them here.

Why the hell does the FediLab app just flake out and REFUSE to accept a shared URL on Android (specifically from Brave) and give this error?
Frustrating when all of a sudden I can't post links to articles.

Isn't it annoying when you've put a project together, carefully #soldered every single pin and joint, routed wires with great care so every piece just fits without a hitch, just for it not to work?
And isn't it annoying when you've taking everything apart again, tested everything(?) and it still doesn't work?
And when you realise you've soldered a button wrong so that you're short-circuiting the reset pin on the board, isn't that just so incredibly annoying?

I had a frustrating argument with someone on the climate emergency.
In person, IRL, as they say.
The frustrating part was that in those discussions, and in general, people stop using their brain. Once the position is taken. Pro or Con. Are people not confident enough that they need a solid rock to stand on while propagating the position.
I'll give you an example about planting trees:
Pro > plant as much trees / Con > waste of effort
Both positions are ludicrous ! Especially if it's the rock to stand on.
Of course planting trees is a solution. [But what's important on that is re-enforcing the power of nature.] When growing trees sequester CO2 to make wood, when grown they keep sequestering to feed nutrients to their surrounding. Conclusion being just to plant trees everywhere.
And of course there are many examples where it goes terribly wrong. Rows of mono-culture dying within a year or two. Or when the slogan is only used to make a very bad product looking a bit better and therefore not feeling compelled to improve the process. Conclusion being that it's not worth the bother and with that undermining any motivation to make changes.
So, as a hill to die on, both positions are lethal.
My point is if you have made the right decision, based on solid information, to plant trees you still need to use your brain every step you make. Going gong-ho with a shovel and saplings is still stupid.
You'll have to keep taking all kinds of things into account. The effects of your actions for the surroundings and the other living beings. I've seen a well educated plan to cut down an existing wood down in order to create a new healthy forest. Sometimes planting trees is NOT the best solution and you'd have to do something else like revitalize a prairie. Introduce a wild animal species.
But with this friend the argument got so narrow. Sure, it's not easy to use your brain every step, but it is essential if you don't want to make things worse. Sure, it's easier to condemn a plan than come up with one.
What I so dearly miss is not so much the nuance but more the well-thought-out, near scientific, approach. Quarrels are very good and enlightening but not when the argument becomes a battle on who is right, which won: Pro or Con.
Dear, good people, please keep this in mind. There is NOT ONE and only solution. The solutions for the climate emergency are endless.
You may be very motivated for one of them. Great !
But keep in mind that others may be just as motivated for another solution.
And keep questioning your reasoning, your steps. Having the right opinion does not mean you're automatically doing the right thing. Remember... an opinion is organic, it grows.
It would mean a great deal for a crazy old white man.
Installed #Mastodon on the iPhone once again, and again it isn’t updating notifications. They show up as banners on the Home Screen, but the “everything” page is not refreshing. #frustrating #UX
#3DPrinting is cool and rad and awesome and one of the snazziest things about living in the future, but I cannot wait until they're as reliable and reality-proof as toaster ovens or bicycles. I want the hobby to be about thinking of new things to fabricate and iterating upon them. I do not want the hobby to be about the ongoing struggles to get the damn machine to work properly for more than a week.
Trying to book swimming lessons for The Boy locally is like trying to find the Holy Grail.
Looks like I’m doing it myself then.
