Wildflowers growing on land previously used for buildings and factories can accumulate lead, arsenic and other metal contaminants from the soil, which are consumed by pollinators as they feed, a new study has found. The metals have previously been shown to damage the health of these pollinators.

I want to dispel the myth that #ecology (or any scientific discipline) is removed from #politics. How #ecosystems are managed, conserved, and degraded are all determined by political decisions. Which research projects are funded is decided by the economic importance of the project topics. The actual knowledge we have about the world is shaped by political and economic forces.
