Truth be told, I just think this is part of a larger effort by #Trump & his buddies to cynically manipulate & #exploit #markets by arbitrarily rendering them volatile, as #capitalism continues to eat itself in real time.
As though the " #freemarket" will automatically fix it, no additional state planning or involvement needed, & this won't just result in massive self-sabotaging for the #UnitedStates by imposing arbitrary #taxes on imported #consumer goods (as well as dive #bombing international relations).
Not only is he imposing these stupid #tariffs upon countries which we import loads of goods from he has also destroyed what little #infrastructure planning that #Biden has planned which could have been used as a means to compensate by building some semblance of #selfsufficient #industry back at home.

In other words, the US is more dependent on Souther #labour, #resources & #production than the #prices of those #imports (relative to US #GDP) would make it seem.
One thing the US govt does not seem to understand is that its #imports from the #globalSouth are underpriced, which means that the impact of losing them is greater, to end users, than their #dollar value suggests.
