FEAR FACT FRIDAY!
Japanese death row inmates usually remain for years (and sometimes decades) on death row without ever actually being informed of the date of their execution prior to the date itself, so inmates suffer due to the uncertainty of not knowing whether or not any given day will be their last.

I'm not a big fan of philosophy. Pages upon pages for ideas that can be summed up in less than 5. The ideas themself tend to be either so simple that they're not really helpful or just stupid. Just read some breif summaries of the most well known philosphies and use what you take from that to build your own. It'll have roughly the same effect for most.

Gerade beendet und bin immer noch begeistert vom Manga. So mag ich das.
Hand Basket
My current audiobook is making me feel like an immature child and it is giving me the giggles.
I am listening to Recursion by Blake Crouch. I’m about 2/3 of the way through and I am really digging it. I keep thinking I know where it’s going and then it curves off to someplace totally unexpected. That’s not what this post is about though.
This post is about how I am a nine year old goofball. One of the characters is named Helena. Every time one of the two readers says the character’s name I insert the words hand basket immediately after it.
Helena (hand basket) said hello.
Helena (hand basket) did something.
Every time I do it I feel like I am going to giggle. What a goof. Sometimes I think that I am going to stop it and I do… briefly. I stop inserting hand basket but instead I insert the word bucket.
Helena (bucket) walked down the hall.
Helena (bucket) opened the door.
Yeah, I am a child. A goofy, lame, immature child.

I’ve started playing Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. So far, so good. Once again, my completist tendencies have seen me sweeping Kefalonia to make sure I miss as little as possible. Good times.

Nice new project: convert my elderly Chromebook to a Linux laptop. Some research needed, if course, but if this works, I could end up with a future proof computer.
@steaphan "Shields" are usually portrayed as you describe -- an energy field of some sort, which I'd think would either be enough to deflect a projectile, or not. Wouldn't seem to be something that should degrade when confronted.
There's at least one Star Trek reference, though, that explains shields as a replicated super-alloy projected into the space surrounding the vehicle. It might make sense for this to weaken or dissipate under impact and require time and energy to re-fortify.
