Tamlyn Monson<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://social.espeweb.net/users/politico_eu_bot" class="u-url mention">@<span>politico_eu_bot</span></a></span> Dubious argument for the right of Europe to sustain its <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/privilege" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>privilege</span></a> while insisting that deterrence efforts are to ‘end the suffering’ of asylum seekers in Europe. The same type of argument, designed to maintain <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/WhiteInnocence" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>WhiteInnocence</span></a>, was used to pass the 2022 <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/NationalityAndBordersAct" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>NationalityAndBordersAct</span></a> in <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/UK" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>UK</span></a> which criminalises irregular arrivals. Apparently to save <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/AsylumSeekers" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>AsylumSeekers</span></a> from suffering we needed to 1)redefine them as criminals 2)imprison them, 3)send them to <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Rwanda" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Rwanda</span></a> . Stranger than fiction.</p>
