Multiple chances for showers and storms are forecasted through Friday night.

Round one: Through this evening – scattered showers with isolated embedded non-severe thunderstorms. Highest chances for thunderstorms west and southwest of the Chicago metro.
Round two: Overnight tonight – isolated thunderstorms possible in far northern Illinois. Level 1/5 severe weather threat for large hail; strong winds possible as well.

Warmer weather is expected through Friday amid breezy conditions and intermittent chances of showers and thunderstorms. A cold front will bring the potential for severe thunderstorms Friday evening. Rain chances will continue toward central Illinois on Saturday before rain and some thunderstorms cross the area Sunday and especially Sunday night.
