I'm reading Ken Follet's historical novel "The Armor of Light" slower than usual because I have to keep putting it down because the bad men are so awful and too much like the current Republicans (and Tories) twisting the laws to be as cruel to as many people as possible.

It's a really good book, though.

Chill Saturday arvo my book, my coffee, and a Good Dog.

I'm very lucky to have colleagues who are avid readers and recommended Ken Follett's excellent Pillars of the Earth. I never expected to enjoy a series about medieval architecture as much as I did, but here we are. His attention to detail is wonderfully grounding, and describing the king's "rampant fecundity" made me laugh like an idiot.

Heute vor 75 Jahren wurde Ken Follett geboren.
