I passed on the torch of Chair of the Greenwood County Democratic Party to Allen Moore last weekend.

It was my honor to serve for the past five years and there is no doubt in my mind that Allen will serve the GWCDP honorably and faithfully during his tenure.

Congrats, Allen. And thank you Greenwood Democrats for placing your trust in me!

Yesterday in we held a runoff election for the City of Greenwood Ward 3.

Runoff elections are a tremendous waste of money and resources, especially for the considerably reduced turnout they bring compared to the main election. Think of the polling locations that need to be opened, the poll workers that need to staff them, the counting and certification again. So much waste!

I'm a huge supporter of ranked choice voting. If the appetite isn't there for the big elections (national and statewide), perhaps we could implement this for primaries and local elections where there are three or more candidates in the running.

Do away with runoff elections!

I was proud to be voted in as Elder-elect of Westminster Presbyterian Church here in #GreenwoodSC.

My pastor (shown here) handed me a pile of books to study before I'm ordained. But then she looked me right in the eye and said, "There's pdf versions you can download".

I am blessed to have a pastor who knows me so well!

There are quite a few women I am in awe of.

First is Felicia Sullivan-Johnson, Mrs. South Carolina American 2024 and native of Greenwood. She gave riveting testimony as a suicide attempt survivor that left me speechless.

And then there are the women-warriors: Cynthia Halpin Brown, Dr. Jumelle Brooks, Tory Miller and Francie Kleckley who inspire me with their compassion and commitment for the community.

I am truly a better man because of them.
