Cornelius van Santvoord, Reformed Dutch pastor, considers life of Jesus after reading Dickens. Jesus told followers to do good and to give. Faith and hope, and “reformatory enterprises”, are worthless without love (which is synonymous w/ charity).

Today, do we see many who are champions of “reformatory enterprises” who are fine with charitable operations being completely shut down? How good is that faith?

How can you follow in His footsteps?

VIDEO: “Marc Lamont Hill sits down with Chris #Hedges, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist [..], to break down America’s looming future under a toxic mix of corporate greed, religious extremism, and fascist politics. [..] The explosive talk covers the dangerous rise of #Christian #nationalism, the #genocide in #Gaza, and why the left is too weak to stop the chaos ahead. You won't hear this anywhere else”

William Bengo Collyer, English Congregationalist, muses on the parable of the Good Samaritan, to encourage service to the widow, needy, naked, hungry, prisoner, ignorant, perishing. When we see them, we behold our own nature, and when we help them, we help our own flesh.

Do we view the “one starving kid” on the other side of the planet as our neighbor?

How can you behold your own nature?
