Today's blooming Damsel portrait - Day 6. The flower, although past its best, is hanging in there; it has lost no petals as yet and still smells delightful. Six days is a good run for this variety of rose.
It may sound callous, but I'm planning to dead head the flower as soon as its petals start to fall, so that the Damsel can focus on growth. It's still warm, but we're nearing late Autumn and she'll be getting sleepy soon.
First flowers of Spring in the Lower St. Lawrence! They bloom before the leaves emerge (mid-April)!
Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara), an aster, native of Europe, mildly invasive in North America. Used medicinally, but contains a liver toxin.
