Friends are putting together a fundraiser for #Altadena jazz musician Bobby Bradford. Listed performers have collaborated or were a part of Beastie Boys, Ozomatli, Los Lobos, and Money Mark. A good time for a great cause, helping a friend and mentor.

Do not get duped by false pan-Africanists, Pan-Africanism(a great philosophy)being the flavor of the year, will be co-opted many times again by Jim Crow Jr.(Uncle Sam) and his ilk around the world. Yves Engler speaks well on this at the start of the episode below:

In 2001, after building my own electric scooter for riding from my home in Over-the-Rhine to my office at Fifth Third Bank Tower, providing endless amusement for the neighborhood and fellow employees, I set to work on adapting diesel-electric freight train technology to an advanced series hybrid, diesel-electric semi-tractor trailer truck with a cooperative franchise converting existing trucks.

Over the past 20+ years, I've repeatedly tried having calm, rational discussions about this concept, and every single time been absolutely excoriated by Cis white man children of the EV community.

In fact, every single project of mine based on proven, evidentiary science has been attacked in every DIY community I've ever tried joining.

Apparently, nothing is real until white men say so.

Charles "Teenie" Harris worked for 40 years as a photojournalist for the Pittsburgh Courier, one of the nation's leading Black newspapers. During that time, he took at least 75,000 images that, says @ArtNews, "beautifully and poetically paints a picture of Black life in mid-20th-century America." He also took remarkable portraits of the queer community of Pittsburgh's Hill District, depicting the pride and confidence of drag performers at the clubs of the 1950s. Here's a look at the efforts to maintain his legacy.

In the long list of great musician activists down the generations, Nat King Cole isn't necessarily the first name you think of. But Donna M. Cox, a professor of music at the University of Dayton, argues that just because he was quiet doesn't mean he was apolitical. From fundraising for the NAACP — a group of which he was a member — to his still-resonant song, “We Are Americans Too,” he resisted and challenged the prevailing social order in his own way. "Beneath the polished veneer of his public image lay a deeply personal commitment to confronting racism and advocating for equality that is often overlooked," writes Cox for @TheConversationUS.
