(2 of 2) During winter and summer our bill is between 5 and 600 dollars. We're in our 70s. Converting to all electric isn't affordable or, in my opinion, sane, given our electric rates. Installing solar, while attractive, is so expensive the payments will probably outlive us, unless we're willing to sign what amounts to a lien on our home. Along with Republican threats to drastically cut Social Security and Medicare, it's a conundrum that can rob you of sleep sometimes.
