Par contre, comme on peine à recruter (tout le secteur médico-social, pas que nous), y'a un gros recours à l'intérim, donc pas vraiment de constance sur les personnes entourant les gamins, notamment dans les MECS.
On a depuis peu une DG de transition qui va redresser la barre mais on a vraiment besoin de recruter des directeur•ice•s engagés.
Les rares personnes qu'on arrive à recruter sur des postes d'éducs sont généralement en reconversion pro, n'ont ni la culture ni les pratiques.
Ça a pu donner lieu à une situation ubuesque où un service d'hébergement (chef de service, éducs et veilleurs) se ligue pour dire à la directrice de tutelle qu'il faut mettre un gamin dehors pcq il est trop compliqué à gérer...

mon plus grand effaremment est l'absence quasi totale de resistance. Les universités plient sans même elever la voix, les manifestations sont faméliques (alors qu'il y a 48% des votants qui ont choisi Harris et qques républicains raisonnables quand même ), les syndicats sont silencieux, même les entreprises qui perdent des milliards n'osent pas critiquer. Quant aux Medias ils se plient tous et relaient peu les actes de resistance même symbolique comme le patron de ben and Jerry's .

Les deux types sont surtout des figures de proue ; pas passifs, mais les idées et démarches émanent d'un appareil idéologique et politique non conventionnel. Le premier mandat était un coup d'essai. Maintenant, ils testent les limites du système. Reste à voir ce qu'il en restera, et ce que les autres états qui se targuent d'être démocratiques (attention : je n'exprime pas de jugement de valeur, par cette formule) prendront en compte, se transformeront. Most ordinary people have no knowledge of the world, history, arts, languages i.e. what is considered culture in other countries. I’ve worked with some really nice folk from your country; at the same time that the country was bombing people who couldn’t fight back. The US has been a powerful evil for most of its existence, despite the presence of some good people; much like England.

Capitalism causes the concentration of capital in the hands of a small group of people (capitalists), and overtime this small group of people aquire more and more wealth, and the group becomes smaller and smaller, until you have a handful of people who own 90% of the wealth of the country. Capitalism is the problem, and capitalism is what needs to go.

Getting capital is not a problem - if the wealthy are taxed correctly and taxes are used for the collective good then it works. The problem is billionarism, when billionaires do not pay tax, companies are not taxed correctly and just the poor is explored to the extreme. Governmens become corrupt etc.
No extremes, in whatever scenario, is good for anyone.

Also, I read the article. This is a program for literally 15 people, thousands of Americans are getting their research defunded and getting fired from essential government positions. Seems like this is more about good PR than any attempt to actually bring over a significant chunk of knowledge and ability
So the brain drain begins. Lots of other countries can benefit from US scientists' expertise, meanwhile Trump will just keep on wounding America by discarding such valuable people.

I doubt anyone in #Canada whose opinion has any bearing on the matter is ignorant enough to believe being trans (or queer, or Black, or a woman) adversely effects the ability to perform the duties of a member of a modern military.

@deFractal To be very blunt, this should be a great time for Canadian companies, universities and government agencies to be hiring the best American talent. Our immigration system already favours educated professionals who speak either English or French. And if you already have a job offer, it's that much easier. But our refugee system obviously puts priority on people whose safety is seriously at risk - from war, or political persecution , etc.
@Paulatics Does it count as political persecution when someone is fired by a politician for their identity, or does our system currently require their being endangered by violence, not just by unemployment (in a country without public healthcare)?
Canada’s asylum system helps people who have fled their countries because of a well-founded fear of persecution. Claiming asylum doesn’t guarantee you can stay in Canada. It isn’t a shortcut to get around immigration rules and procedures.

We do need a lot of healthcare workers and scientists and engineers and home builders and renewable energy workers, and we're likely rather soon to need more defence and intelligence personnel and DIB R&D and manufacturing workers too. Perhaps it's time we make that additional track.

Yes. There's certainly a need for both. And the refugees will likely have a better time getting and keeping work, and thriving in their jobs, if they can recognize themselves, in some way, in more of their colleagues.

not really, having grown up in Europe, we ve always known that Americans are dumb. In fact, the Asians know that too. You literally have a nation of blue collar immigrants, with expensive education, and access to all the poisons of the world at half the cost - it was a matter of time. @timrichards @ajsadauskas The best rule changes would be ones to introduce a finely gradated set of sanctions that can be gradually escalated for flouting the rules. afaict this is mostly missing due to the focus on building trust among the small number of ECSC, EEC members early in the group's history. I remember the idealism growing up there in those days and it's a different world now.

i agreed because i was going to harvest them for batteries and speakers. however in hindsight it is still a lot of tech waste if we can not recycle the rest of them too.
