@AnneTheWriter1 I don't think I'd heard of the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition.

I guess it was a better idea than sending the Scottish to start a colony in Panama.

@ids1024 @AnneTheWriter1 it was an amazingly successful scientific expedition. Nobody perished of cold, no dramas, lots of science. And deliberately not under banner of Imperial Britain. King Edward did send a medal, but ignored by official UK Antarctica histories for a long time.
