If you must use ChatGPT, please be as obnoxiously polite as possible:
- “Can I please trouble you with <action prompt>”
- “If you would be so kind, <prompt>”
- “My heartfelt thanks”
- “I do not deserve you”

If that’s just ‘please’ and ‘thankyou’, imagine what the whole prompt costs.

Actually the internet "has been a playground for", so of course the fedi can't escape that.
At least at a first glance.
We actually could and should work on a some kind of web of trust" concept, for profiles and for servers, because for now in the first place we are to much of a small niche to be interesting for shenaningans and right out criminals.

What upsets me is that I perceive those spammers, like this one, as harassers. What they do is an aggression, and actually worth than if they'd enter my living room. My living room is a physical space. Here they beam themselves directly into my mind. Actually I perceive advertisement, all advertisement, the same way and they really manage to boil my blood in rage and a felling of being offended.

Than what really bothers me is that our minds are wired to find/create a connection of cause and effect by default. You know, the apple falls from the tree .. why?

In this case this criminal that harasses me uses a name that might have a specific meaning or importance in my life. Or uses pictures of a face that might have the same mouth, or eyes or hair cut like some important someone in my past. Our minds have no way to escape those effects in the first place, and in any case need a constant exercise and active effort to disarm the results.

"Why is this happening to me right now?
Is this some weird quantum physics effect trying to nudge me somewhere?
Should I call the Nicole in my life?
Should I tell my wife to get a different haircut?
Is this a bot directed at me by the none existing agency of the swastiXcar idiot"

🤨

Uhm, a new ChatGPT version just dropped and GeoGuesser is now a solved problem.

PSA: When posting any outdoors photos, update your threat model from "someone skilled and dedicated could theoretically locate this" to "any stalker can do this for 20€/mo"

#MiniReview #Movies After having been a little disappointed by Mark Wahlberg in comedies like The Other Guys (2012) or Pain and Gain (2013), I was happy to see him back into his regular super-soldier archetype in Shooter (2007). Typecasting maybe, but in my eyes that's where he truly shines as a gruff vigilante, bringing the movie to a satisfying if expected conclusion.

While I also occasionally suffer from the regular FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), I mainly suffer from KIMO (Know I’m Missing Out) about the following behaviors:
- Belonging to a cult, whether it’s religious, sports or political.
- Believing individual words have any inherent power.
- Enjoying recreational drugs, including alcohol, smoking and coffee.
- Celebrating anything, whether at regular intervals (holidays) or one-off transitions (housewarming, bachelor-ette parties, promotions, etc...)
- Caring for any tradition “because this is how we’ve always done”.

And I feel it makes it harder for me to find a meaning for my life given I’m not experiencing the full range of behaviors it offers. 🤔

Disclaimer: All my written opinions are (un)educated guesses sources from scattered online opinion pieces and news articles I speed-read out of curiosity.

In the event I’m actually right about something, it’s more likely to be coincidental with my internal consistency than grounded in solid knowledge or understanding of the relevant topic(s).

However, I’ll always be able to write mostly convincing arguments à-la-Large Language Model because school trained me for eloquence rather than factual accuracy. Thanks for reading!

Welcome to my new followers after my most popular #Fediverse post ever!

I realize I don't have an #introduction post up, so this is a good opportunity to fill the void. In short, this account is a dump. A mental dump of what I have to blurt out to the world.

Here I'm mainly known for working on #Friendica (#programming ), one of many pieces of software part of the #Fediverse. We strive to be compatible with as many decentralized social media protocols as possible, at the moment we're compatible with #Diaspora, #ActivityPub (think Mastodon) and #OStatus, with optional connectors with #Twitter and others.

I also own a second-hand #LEGO store front where I sell sets and parts: store.bricklink.com/MrPetovan

I have an 8-year old kid (#parenting ), play #VideoGames and often have opinions about them. I also love #BoardGames but I'm missing fellow players around me. I like #Riding (trains, buses, planes, skateboard, snowboard) but it doesn't really define me. I drove a #drift car over a couple days once and it was both exhilarating and frustrating.

Friendica doesn't have a post character limit but I still infrequently post longer pieces on my blog: blog.mrpetovan.com

Last bit you may want to know about me before following me on here: I am not in favor of absolute free speech. Online spaces need to be moderated to counter the real life discriminating power dynamics.

Nice to meet you!
