Today, tell your kids about Ruby Bridges—the first Black child at all-white public elementary school in South.

Today Ms. Bridges turns 69.

69.

She's younger than both my parents. And more importantly, she's a reminder of the courage of our youth, of the ever present reality of systemic racism, and of the need to lead with anti-racism to counter this hate.

Let us look to leaders like Ms. Bridges, and build that more perfect union for all people in this country—grounded in true Justice for all

Yesterday I stopped work on the Mountain Valley Pipeline. I locked to the drill, 79-year-old Marty Zinn locked to part of the track (she's under the umbrella), & four others were in foot locks blocking the entrance.

Marty summed up why we're doing this beautifully: "I have lived a long life at almost 80 years old; I want to help ensure that young people today and in the future have a chance to live a life too, and one that is worth living. I am acting for them. That is why I came to stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline. Its sole purpose is to transport fracked natural gas mostly for export to foreign countries and make a lot of money for fossil fuel corporations and their owners—meanwhile further endangering the survival of all we know."

These elders are such an inspiration to me, as are all activists working to protect their land and water. The Greenbrier River, which the drill I was sitting on will travel underneath, is the longest undammed river in the eastern US.

This pipeline endangers hundreds of waterways, and would be responsible for 90 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. We cannot build this pipeline.
Listen to the science. Listen to your elders.

"In the past 30 days, nearly 5,000 heat and rainfall records have been broken or tied in the U.S. and more than 10,000 records set globally, according to NOAA. Texas cities and towns alone have set 369 daily high temperature records since June 1."

This is truly frightening.

KTUUSick of hearing about record heat? Scientists say those numbers paint the story of a warming worldNearly every major climate-tracking organization proclaimed June the hottest June ever.

One of my favorite #Mastodon pastimes when I'm feeling down is to look at the local or global timeline and find people who are happy about something but aren't getting any boosts or replies.

I give them a virtual high five in the hopes they will feel a little less lonely. ✋

Give it a try. It feels great. 😉

This is unprecedented and catastrophic: Experts warn a catastrophic ocean warming event will kill coral reefs, fisheries and add to rising temps: "There's a 90% chance there will be major bleaching in Florida, the Caribbean coast of Central America, and other areas" cbsnews.com/news/florida-o… @CBSNews @WritingLiYakira

OMFG

“There is an argument that it is ethnically targeted. COVID-19 attacks certain races disproportionately…COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese.”

Conspiracy theorists go from 0 to blame Jews in a nanosecond

If you’re a journalist writing another story on why RFK Jr isn’t getting enough press coverage then I need you to get up, find a brick wall, and walk into it at full speed.

That we are now seeing warnings about a potential #measles outbreak in #London tells you much about the state of the UK

Misled by charlatans, some have decided not to have their children vaccinated over the last decades (perhaps hoping that normal herd immunity would allow them to free-ride on #vaccination programmes, or perhaps thinking the risks from measles or other diseases were so low as to make the miss-conceived danger of harm of greater importance?)

Its a little like #Brexit isn't it?
