As a Veteran, I'm ashamed of Republicans attacking the people who swore an oath of service to the #UnitedStates.
It's almost as if they put the hand on the Bible and take that #oath in jest.

@tabernac you are forgetting they also want to be the ones controlling others on what to do, what to feel, with whom, etc.. It's not just for enriching themselves to obscene amounts, it's about doing the worst things to people they view as threats to their will to impose themselves and their views on every aspect of every single living being.

In my case, one particular vote broke me: to increase death benefits for Gold Star widows of fallen servicemembers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Post 9/11, yellow-ribbon-wearing, American flag-pinning, Toby Keith-blaring Republicans voted it down in party line.
If it's not a bodies on a field, is it even victory?

As the son of a liberal veteran, I want to point out that THIS DID NOT START WITH TRUMP.
Time and time again, the Republicans screw over vets, often by cutting the VA, but sometimes in other ways. Every time they do this, the majority of veterans reward them for screwing over veterans by voting for Republicans.
If you keep rewarding politicians who hurt you and punishing politicians who try to help you, guess what the government is going to do to you?
This is not hard to grasp.

Both parties have epic fails when it comes to caring about #veterans.
I'm a boomer who has voted almost exclusively #Democrat over the years & I have to call out #JohnMcCain as a stellar example of one #Republican who always tried to do the right thing for vets. There are others from both parties.
We, me 100% included, all need to be careful of broadbrush statements.
It's easy to get into us vs. them & miss people who really made a difference.
