Everyone who distrusted Free Our Feeds was 100% right but in a more hilarious way than anyone anticipated: what if we take the bluesky firehose.... and put it on a blockchain

"What problems does this solve?"
"You see, now it is on the blockchain"
@jonny really disappointed that everybody's favorite polemicist ended up being such an obvious rube
@glyph We had similar thoughts, I see.
@oli I don't always agree with him but he cited my blog at an awards show and I was really chuffed by that level of recognition and then he *immediately* turned around and did this stupid fuckup
@glyph @oli people may be great at analyzing tech oligarchy and enshittification but such excellence does not carry over to making software or making choices about software architectures. A great music critic can not automatically emit good music themselves etc a Marxist does not automatically come with a convivial vision of an anti-capitalist community.
@jalefkowit
@glyph
If I didn't actually care about p2p and just be a grifter it would be so easy to just become stupid rich in the dweb space
@jonny @jalefkowit thought you wrote "dweeb" there for a second, and… uh… okay maybe you did
@jonny @jalefkowit @glyph I say do it anyway, but funnel all that coin into good. Much better for the planet than in the pocket of an asshole.
@jonny @jalefkowit @glyph "If I didn't actually care ... just be a grifter it would be so easy to just become stupid rich..."
capitalism incentivizes sociopathic behavior.
Just the name "Project Liberty" sets off an alarm.
I don't know if everyone on this thread is in the USA, but usually any group with the words "Freedom", "Liberty" or "Patriot" is a right-wing grift.
