@georgetakei this has implications when we're in discussion and you see me take off my glasses! I would rather they had not given that away.

@wbpeckham @georgetakei I have worn glasses since I was 13m old (still have them). First surgery by 17m old. Third by 9. That was all they could do for me. My vision is bad and I’m now the age where it’s even harder to get my prescriptions (reading and distance) right. I definitely need a new rx but can’t get it to work. Need a specialist again. My dear cousin loves to joke that I am blind. She has a point. Not quite there but close enough.

@xexyl @georgetakei My wife had a disorder what could have rendered her blind. Luckily I worked in IT that served a hospital and medical clinic, and between that and my military dependent coverage I was able to get her to see doctors that she needed. I don't know what other people do, because my civilian insurance was supposed to be about the best and it was worthless. I'm a big proponent of universal health Care for the US, because none of what we have now is worth anything if you can't get to see a doctor or if the insurance decides they know more medicine than the doctors do. I wish you astonishingly good luck!

@wbpeckham @georgetakei do not get me started on insurance companies of any kind! As far as the US: it has always struck me as extremely ironic and hypocritical for a country that preaches it is the best to not only have human rights abuses (from its beginning to this day!) but not have healthcare for all. If it’s the richest and most tolerant and most giving I wonder what other countries that actually have some of these things are.

@wbpeckham @georgetakei I am glad your wife is okay and thank you for the best wishes! You and yours as well. Stay safe and well and happy!

I paid money to see when someone's about to kill me on the road.
