Glad to see more Democrats, including fellow NJ Senator Cory Booker and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, join Sen. John Fetterman in calling for Sen. Bob Menendez to step down. Corruption can taint either party, though lately, it falls far more heavily on Republicans. The difference is that when Democratic officials do it, we hold them responsible and help push them out. The GOP….Well, George Santos is still in office, so no.
@georgetakei How expensive are the campaigns of Democrats? How much of that comes from corporate donors and lobbying? And what is the definition of corruption? They're just as culpable as the Republicans, and only slightly less evasive about it.
@georgetakei Can the party not remove any bad apples, assuming corruption is proven? These people aren’t likely to admit culpability, even after the fact.
@benjamincox @georgetakei What are they supposed to do, convince New Jersey to have a special election?
@georgetakei
Each politician is judged according to the standards of his own party.
@weaselx86 Hmm, fair point...
@georgetakei @lisamelton Though being that our democracy is held in the balance on the back of one corrupt SOB, is modeling purity to monsters who don’t care about right or wrong the best decision? Who knows. Glad I don’t have to make these calls and can wait for some Batman movie down the line to clarify for me.
@georgetakei Menendez versus Sanchez is a study and example in political integrity
@georgetakei I’ve said the exact same thing for a long time.
