How is it that money managed by the chair of Trump's transition team keeps showing up in the hands of drug cartels, terrorists, and fraudsters?
This is a "follow the money" deep dive into how Howard Lutnick manages roughly $100 billion for #Tether. Together they've created an offshore legal fiction by which neither bears any responsibility if that money ends up in the hands of sanctioned countries like #Iran or #NorthKorea or international criminal organizations like #PigButchering frauds and weapons markets.
Which is exactly where it ends up pretty much constantly.
For bonus points $40 billion of those dollars came from Sam Bankman-Fried's FTX.

@davidgerard tried to create a document that can be sent to people who don't know anything about crypto/tether/etc. to explain how grotesque the current situation is, esp. as far as trump (who is about to launch his own stablecoin ICYMI)

@cryptadamist Thank you for putting all this together. I didn't know that Tether was involved but frauds sticking together shouldn't surprise anyone.
@dhollandmath i quit social media w/this account almost a year ago but i had to come back after seeing that all the political reporters were failing to connect the very obvious dots.
all roads lead to #tether (including recently the scandals involving the mayor of New York City if you've been following that at all).

@dhollandmath i don't care about credit but feel free to share my substack posts widely. the whole point of resurrecting my account and writing them was to try to explain the direness of the situation to people who barely understand what crypto even is, let alone tether, uniswap, etc. etc.
