Turns out I have a lot of pictures of birds in Costa Rica...

Highlighting some of them here. Of course, my photos have nothing on those from the pros, but some are pretty good considering they're all taken with my cell phone, often thru a guide's scope.

Starting from a trip to the Dota region we took in 2019.

First up, a Silver Throated Tanager

And of course, the Resplendent Quetzal

Rufous Collared Sparrow
Dota Region 2019.

In the second picture, you can see a wild avocado fruit in the upper right. These sparrows were in the same tree as the quetzals.

Spot-crowned Euphonia
Manuel Antonio area, 2021

We saw this bird one morning while walking around the grounds of our lodge.

Green Honeycreeper
Rivas area, 2021

As a naive "birder", it took me a while to believe that this obviously blue bird was the Green Honeycreeper while another obviously green bird wasn't "Green" but rather the Emerald Honeycreeper ...

Northern-emerald Toucanet
Rivas area, 2021

A lot of places attract human visitors by offering us food and the chance to watch a backyard fruit buffet for the birds. Makes us all happy ...

And here's the Emerald Honeycreeper
Rivas area, 2021

This little bird flew in to join us for Tai Chi practice one morning.

Fiery-billed Aracari
Osa Peninsula, 2021

9/n

Golden-browed Chlorophonia
Dota region, 2019

Bird eating a peach: the peach was whole when we watched the chlorophonia arrive -- it ate most of the peach in the 15 mins we were watching. It looked tasty.

Lineated Woodpecker
Osa Peninsula, 2021

11/n

Great Curassow
Osa Peninsula, 2021

The black ones are the males, the brown ones the females. Surprisingly large bird. Only found now in protected areas -- they've been hunted out of existence anywhere they're not protected.

Red-lored Parrot
Osa Peninsula, 2021

These parrots fly in large, very noisy flocks.
