Probably the first step is to do your best and wait to see if your feelings even out after a couple weeks. Distractions are key (videogames? binge watching shows?), since this isn't a long term thing. If you're sure you're past that period, I can think of a few general suggestions.

The first is to get a doctor who's willing to carefully test other meds with you. There's this day group at the hospital near me, and when a friend was struggling to find meds that worked, the group was useful because they had medication specialists. when the friend tried out ones that could have bad side effects, he was being watched very closely to make sure he was safe. But attentive, diligent healthcare would solve a lot of problems, wouldn't it? I get not everyone can have that. There might be a med out there that doesn't fuck you up in other ways, though.

Vigorous exercise helps some people. Art's a big one for others. Talk therapy, group therapy - being willing and able to experiment to find what works is a big one.

It's really tough to give specific advice, since the cause can be so personal. I know a trans guy who is way less angry on T. That's not useful universal advice, but it shows how your answer might be individual and need digging to find.

I can't afford a new computer right now and tariffs meaning higher prices means I can't anticipate affording one in the near future. My plan is to see where everything's at when they stop doing updates. Unfortunately.

I'm somewhat open to the idea, but the thought of messing up and not having any computer other than my phone until i figure it out is tough to get over.

I do feel an odd guilt for not moisturizing, like I'm failing at some womanly responsibility. I feel like me and the op are in the same boat - dealing with some uncomfortable residue of misogyny we're struggling to wash off.

But her routine still sounds reasonable, and she enjoys it, and I slap on sunscreen for my health, and continue to not put on my despised moisturizer, so we're both just doing our human best about it.

We made pretty the eggs we would've boiled and eaten anyway. The week after easter we'd be all 'dad, you ate the one i wanted to eat!!' because we decorated it the prettiest so it was ours. It was incredibly rare the eggs didn't get eaten. We also had hollowed out eggshells my grandmother painted that we'd put in a place of honor every year.

Polish! I never really thought about why she did it. That's really neat! I'll have to ask dad if that's what inspired her to make them. We inherited them, and had a little stand, but she had a whole elaborate display I wish I could remember clearly.

I dislike orange soda despite liking lots of other orange flavored things (there's some background flavor that gets more apparent as i go through a can, making me sick to my stomach) and the other day we got some by accident so I tried it to see if i still disliked it (yep).

To not waste the can, I added some grenadine and whiskey, and the combo overpowered what i disliked about the soda. Good times.

Caroline Herschel's story resonates with me for some reason.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caroline_Herschel

Something about how little was expected or desired of her, but she kept plugging at things and learning, and excelled. She was short and scarred and disabled but damn she found some cool stuff. There are periods in her life when she was just like "i don't want to be here or do this" but she just kept making the best of it.

When people with a communication disability use a word differently than I might, I have been trying lately to understand what they're attempting to communicate. I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding about what trauma is, but even if you didn't, it might be a good practice.

Anyway, I get why the word use is upsetting, because it can feel like rape and social ostracization are being treated identically when the same word (traumatic) is used for both. But trauma, as I understand it, is more like a broken bone - it's a bad result from an event or events. Me and grandma both fell down the stairs and she fell one step and I fell two flights, and we both broke something - the broken bone is still real, even when the fall was smaller. I fuck up my wrist in a car accident, and someone else fucks it up doing the same small action repetitively for years. Wrist's still fucked.

If you think of it that way, there never was a comparison to dislike in the first place. Trauma is the injury, not the cause. Everything and nothing is traumatic, but some things are almost universally likely to cause injury, and some things aren't.

celeste ,
celeste avatar

Why are you being dismissive of what's actually being described, which is something happening over and over again? It's not one bad joke the original poster is crying over. It's the "over and over again."

You're saying you can look at the cause of the injury and say what the injury is without checking for symptoms or even listening to the entire cause of injury.

Even if you won't accept that social rejection and isolation over an entire childhood can cause trauma, can you at least give people with a social disability the smallest amount of leeway when describing their experiences and not react so dismissively in a mental health community?

Autistic people get fucked up well into adulthood by being rejected by their peers for reasons they can't comprehend over the course of many years.

And shitting on the floor's just the start of it! If this was a sudden behavior change, dude needs to get looked at, but he should not get to have his position while he does so.

Getting out of the way that this has a lot of the usual tells that it's a fictional narrative, there are a number of parts of it i genuinely enjoyed. It actually helped guessing off the bat that it was fiction, so i knew not to get too deep in the details.

I appreciated that there were villains and heroes spread throughout. The affair partner has a heroic sister, the evil conservative church has a sympathetic dude answering the phone, her own parents suck, etc. There were also men and women who were heroes and villains - not like one gender that only seemed to have heroes and villains, and the other got to have some regular people, like happens in some of these infidelity revenge stories.

Some of the touches were fun. The revenge scrapbooking made all the silliness with the church vultures worth it. The sister finding her identifying documents was probably just a way of removing any sympathy from the dead 20 year old, but it was a fun sinister twist.

All in all, one of my favorites of the genre.

If he hadn't pulled that crap, I really see no problem with the guy living there. Good roommates are hard to come by, not everyone does well living alone, and the op was close to his son. There's this obsession with freeloading, but there are a lot of people who bring value into our lives without bringing money. I'm glad things turned out for the best, but it would've been fine to me if he stayed if he hadn't suddenly lied about it. When he lied, he needed to go.

I've heard of it before and considered playing it, but I have a tough time committing to play a game with sexual violence as a theme. It's nothing against the game, which looks interesting. If anyone knows of a good let's play for the series, I'd love to experience it in some way, even if it's a dulled experience.

DHL Express Canada is also asking to have work-from-home options decreased and employees are being forced to provide a detailed reason when they want to use the bathroom.

They deserve a detailed reason. I know the point's to make it a pain to use the restroom, so people avoid it, but, c'mon.
