I have been trying to help myself by actively avoiding using unpleasant tropes that emerge from #racism, #misogyny, #lgbtqia hate and so on, including:

that judgement can be cast at the individual level, based on perceived group characteristics
- avoid using "because they might {this} you {this}"

that actions are always inherent in character
- try to use "that was {unpleasant thing}" not "you are a {unpleasant thing}"

it comforts me to not use their tactics, even in opposition to them
