The 2-tierd police state is all they are interested in. Their not religious, though they wouldn't hesitate to employ religiousity. Their not "family" men, their malignant narcissists. It's only ever been about the power structure.

Dear OvertonDoors I think you are too negative about politicians. Mostly they start with idealism: "I want to make things better". But then 'election fever' overwhelms them and they concentrate on how to be re-elected instead of making society better.

@anneapplebaum I was in a pizza shop today and one of the guys working there was talking about how Trump was taking America back to "What the founding fathers set out", that he would vote for Trump again, and he would be happy to have trump "be America's Putin."

Of course, once the police state is entrenched in policy and beuracacy it can sodomized pizzia guy whenever it chooses. But that part is lost on a pig eyed bully. That part requires the exercise of empathy and forethought. Since Regan those have been qualities people sought despite the incentives against them. No we're a nation of beligerant adult children and those of us old enough to know better.

I don't think the conservatives can't, or won't, see what Russia is. They see what Russia is, and that's what they want.
The part that they haven't grasped is that if they turn the USA into Russia, they also lose all the things that were better about the USA. Sure, they'll be at the top of the heap, but it will be a much worse heap.
