The Cross-Cultural Nerd

In my 3rd video of 2023, I talk about the Shelbyville Community Remembrance Project Coalition, formed in 2019 to memorialize the six Black men murdered by in the county (that we know of). Through the SCRPC, as of 2021, Shelbyville is the first town in Kentucky to officially memorialize lynching victims.

Next to the Shelby County Courthouse Annex in Shelbyville, KY, one of the new historic markers stands memorializing Clarence Garnett and Jimbo Fields, two Black teens murdered by lynching in 1901. The title overlaying the right side is "Kentucky Black History: Shelbyville Community Remembrance Project Coalition".
