I learned from @dlarc that my surprise new Astatic D104 microphone is powered by a 9 volt battery lol. I am happy to let this poor Rayovac retire at 3.6v. Do we think alkaline is the best chemistry here and not say a lithium ion rechargeable?

Bonus points for opinions about using this mic with a Realistic HTX-100 mobile transceiver for 10 meter SSB. Apparently the high impedance is not a problem because of the amplifier circuit, but it's unclear to me if the audio quality is still an issue.

@K3LOE @dlarc I saw this via @dlarc!
I recommend trying a ‘taken-battery’ 9-volt lithium rechargeable- they have a usb-c connector to charge. I think they use an internal charge pump to achieve 9v BUT I can attest that they haven’t added any noise when I used them in my kid’s noise-prone toy guitar amp or effects pedals. (Other similar ones do.)
