Gloster F.9/40 prototype. This aircraft was one of the first examples of the Gloster Meteor, the Allies first jet fighter to see squadron service in WW2. The Meteor was successful in the fight against the V-1 'buzz bomb' attacks against Southeastern England in 1944, but never met the German Me262 in combat. It did, however, perform some armed reconnaissance missions over Holland, towrads the end of the conflict. This aircraft has since been moved within the RAF Museum.
