ABA, small mention of suicide
Since a lot of people didn't understand @winter post (https://social.translunar.academy/objects/80ee02b7-4d09-4206-913c-f466212e6666) , I will simplify it here.
(IMPORTANT EDIT: it’s unclear how officially the AMA said this. See https://mas.to/@failedLyndonLaRouchite/110698698055486966)
The AMA, a very important group of USA doctors, said they no longer support ABA. They said basically
"1 out of 44 people have autism. ABA is the most common type of autism therapy in the USA and Canada. People make a lot of money from ABA treatment. ABA was invented in 1961 to make autistic kids seen as "incomplete humans" act more like neurotypicals. Patients often don't get to choose which autistic behaviors to get rid of. Old ABA methods used really bad punishments like denying food. New ABA is better but still tries to remove the autism and make people "normal". Autistic people who were in ABA tend to kill themselves more often and 46 percent of them have PTSD.

ABA
Autistic people don't support it. Studies have shown it doesn't change autism symptom displays much. Studies on it might be corrupt. There are better alternatives. Because of all this, we, the AMA, no longer support ABA"

ABA
@CoolFrog Wow! Read up on it on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Applied_behavior_analysis), especially the criticism part. Apparently, it was also used for gay conversion therapy (or one of its founders used it for that).
I can appreciate trying to figure out how other people think or figuring out how to communicate with them to avoid misunderstandings, but being punished or forced to do that... I'd probably be... well, anti-social... in pure spite... *shiver*
